Client Snapshot

A licensed Texas mover that nobody could find

Two Step Moving Company is a family owned, licensed and insured moving company based in Boerne, Texas, serving San Antonio, New Braunfels, Cibolo, Seguin and twenty other communities across the region. USDOT 4332000. A 5.0 star rating across 197 Google reviews. The reputation was already there. The search visibility was not.

Where they started

  • No measurable organic search presence. Google Search Console recorded no meaningful impression history before the rebuild.
  • One thin page trying to cover residential, apartment, commercial, packing, labor only and long distance moves at once.
  • No service area pages, so a search for movers in Boerne or New Braunfels had nothing specific to match.
  • A five star Google Business Profile carrying almost all of the lead volume by itself.

The opportunity

  • Moving is one of the highest intent local categories in search, which makes moving company SEO unusually measurable. Nobody types "movers near me" out of curiosity.
  • The regional market splits cleanly by city and by move type, which is exactly the structure a moving company SEO program can build against.
  • A genuinely 5.0 rated operator with a USDOT number can win trust queries that discount brokers cannot.
  • Every quote request captured on the site is a lead the business owns, not one rented from a lead broker.
The Platform

A quote engine, not a brochure

The FOG Digital Marketing team rebuilt the site around one job: turn a person who is moving in the next three weeks into a quote request before they close the tab.

The rebuilt Two Step Moving homepage. The quote form sits inside the hero, above the fold, with trust signals stacked beside it.

Conversion first layout

The quote form is the hero, not a footer afterthought. It asks for name, phone, email and move date, and it tells the visitor up front that it takes about thirty seconds. Directly beneath it sit the three things a nervous mover actually checks: the 5.0 Google rating, licensed and insured status, and the USDOT number.

A page for every real search

The site was expanded into a proper architecture: individual service pages for residential, apartment, commercial, intrastate, packing and labor only moves, plus service area pages for Boerne, New Braunfels, Cibolo, Seguin and the rest of the footprint. Every one of those pages is now indexed and eligible to rank on its own.

Strategy & Execution

The moving company SEO program

Four workstreams, run in parallel, from launch day forward. This is the same moving company SEO framework we run for every mover we take on.

01

Intent mapping before a word was written

Moving searches split into three distinct jobs: pick a city ("movers Boerne TX"), pick a move type ("apartment movers San Antonio"), and check a company ("two step moving company reviews"). We mapped each cluster to a single page so nothing competed with itself, which is the most common failure we see in moving company SEO.

02

Technical foundation and structured data

Clean crawlable templates, a working XML sitemap, fast Core Web Vitals, and LocalBusiness and MovingCompany schema so Google can read the service area, the license number and the review rating without guessing. Google publishes its own local business structured data guidelines, and the build follows them line by line.

03

Google Business Profile as a second front door

The profile was optimised alongside the site: correct primary category, complete service list, service area matched to the twenty two communities actually covered, real job photos, and a review flow that keeps the 5.0 average growing. Local pack and Maps are where a mover gets found first.

04

Measurement that survives an audit

Search Console, GA4 and Business Profile insights were connected on day one, with phone taps and form submissions tracked as events. Every number on this page comes from those three sources, not from an estimate.

The Proof

What the moving company SEO data actually shows

Ten weeks of live data, pulled from Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 and Google Business Profile on 5 September 2026.

Rankings on the terms that produce moves

Average position is the number that matters in a category where the top three results take almost everything. These are the live Search Console positions for the queries the site is already competing on.

A 21.8 percent click through rate on the brand term at position 2.2 is the signature of a listing people trust once they see it. The high volume generic terms, "professional movers" at 1,126 impressions and "movers new braunfels" at 312, are already collecting impressions from positions in the forties and seventies, which is exactly where a ten week old site should be sitting before authority compounds. In total the site surfaced for 711 distinct search queries in its first ten weeks.

Engagement quality, not just volume

545 sessions were recorded in the reporting window. Organic search delivered 157 of them at a 66.24 percent engagement rate and an average engagement time of one minute seventeen seconds, against a site wide average of 48 seconds. In plain terms, the people arriving from Google were reading the service pages, not bouncing. That gap between organic engagement and everything else is the clearest early signal that the content is answering the query.

Google Business Profile performance, April to September 2026: 348 customer interactions, with 418 profile views a month.

The Business Profile is the second half of the story. 348 customer interactions in six months, against 418 monthly profile views, and fifteen new reviews arriving during the same period. For a local mover, the profile and the website are one system, and a moving company SEO program that only touches the website is leaving the larger half of the map pack on the table.

What changed for the business

0 to 711

Queries the site now appears for

From effectively no organic footprint to 711 distinct search queries in ten weeks, across move types, cities and comparison searches.

Page 1

On the category terms

Position 2.2 on the core brand term, 1.9 on local movers near me and 6.1 on moving companies near me. Those are map pack and page one positions in the highest intent part of the funnel.

Owned

Lead flow, not rented

Quote requests now arrive through the company's own form and phone number rather than a lead broker taking a cut of every job.

What Comes Next

Where the next gains are

A ten week old domain has not finished earning its authority, and moving company SEO compounds. Two moves are queued.

Close the impression gap

"Professional movers" produced 1,126 impressions at an average position of 79.5, and "movers new braunfels" produced 312 at 48.0. Those are pages that exist and rank, just not high enough to be clicked yet. Deepening the New Braunfels and commercial move pages and building relevant local links is where the next block of traffic comes from.

Turn impressions into calls

An overall click through rate of 0.8 percent across a young site is normal, but the branded term is already converting at 21.8 percent. Rewriting title tags and meta descriptions on the service pages to match the way people actually phrase a move, and adding review stars through structured data, lifts the whole curve without needing a single new ranking.

FAQs

Moving company SEO questions we get asked

How long does moving company SEO take to work?

Two Step Moving was surfacing for 711 distinct queries and holding position 2.2 on its core term within ten weeks of launch, but that is a launch curve, not a finished one. In a market the size of San Antonio, expect meaningful branded and long tail visibility inside eight to twelve weeks, competitive city plus service terms between six and twelve months, and the highest volume generic terms beyond that. Anyone promising page one for "movers near me" in thirty days is selling you something.

Is Google Business Profile more important than the website for a moving company?

They are one system. In this case the profile produced 348 customer interactions in six months while the website produced 121 organic clicks in ten weeks, so the profile was doing more raw volume. But the profile ranks partly on the strength and relevance of the website behind it, and the website is where a quote request actually gets captured. Working on one and ignoring the other caps both.

Do movers need separate pages for every city they serve?

Yes, if the pages are genuinely different. A page for Boerne should talk about Kendall County, the neighbourhoods, the drive time and the actual jobs done there. Twenty near identical pages with the city name swapped is a doorway page pattern that Google devalues, and it is the single most common mistake in moving company SEO. Two Step Moving got real service area pages, not a template with a find and replace.

What should a moving company website cost?

For a licensed local mover in the San Antonio market, a conversion focused website build typically runs between 3,500 and 8,000 dollars depending on how many service and service area pages are needed, with ongoing SEO and Business Profile management between 1,200 and 3,000 dollars a month. Cheaper builds exist. They usually arrive without the page architecture that makes a moving company SEO program possible in the first place.

How do you measure whether moving company SEO is working?

Four numbers, checked monthly: impressions and average position in Search Console, organic sessions and engagement rate in GA4, calls and website clicks in Google Business Profile, and form submissions in the CRM. Rankings alone are vanity, and moving company SEO reporting that stops at rankings is hiding something. A page that ranks second and never gets clicked is a title tag problem, and you only see it if you are watching click through rate next to position.

Does a USDOT number help a mover rank?

Not directly as a ranking factor, but it matters a great deal for trust and conversion. Publishing the USDOT number, the licence and insurance status and a genuine review count answers the questions a nervous customer is already asking, and the FMCSA encourages consumers to verify a mover before booking. Pages that answer those questions well tend to earn the engagement signals that keep rankings.

Can this work for a moving company outside San Antonio?

The method travels. The intent clusters in moving are the same everywhere: city, move type and company checks. What changes is the competitive density and the map pack radius. We run the same moving company SEO framework for contractors and service businesses across Texas, and the diagnostic work at the start is what tells us how long a given market will take.
