A Plus Painting Contractor · San Antonio, TX

Twenty Four Years of Craftsmanship. Five Weeks to Rank Page One.

A Plus Painting Contractor already had two decades of five star work behind it. What it didn't have was a website built to be found for any single piece of it. Once the search side got a yes, it took five weeks to land page one.

Five weeks of search data since the new pages went live. The site underneath them is years older.

Where They Started

Twenty four years painting San Antonio homes, a 5.0 rating from 30 reviews, and a small site FOG had already built for them, real but never built out to compete in search.

What We Built

When the SEO conversation finally turned into a yes, we built the architecture the original site never had: 8 service pages, 5 service area pages and 24 articles, live and indexed in five weeks.

Where It Stands

Position 1.0 and 2.0 on the two highest intent painting searches in the city, impressions up 108 percent, and clicks still catching up to the new visibility.

01 / Where It Started

The Challenge

A Plus Painting Contractor didn't need convincing that the work was good. Thirty Google reviews at a perfect 5.0 said that already. What the site couldn't do was put a name to any one of eight services, or point to a single one of the towns that call.

Problem 01

Eight Trades, One Page

Interior, exterior, cabinet refinishing, epoxy flooring, carpentry, moldings, tile and remodeling, all folded into one general services section that could not rank for any of them by name.

Problem 02

Five Towns, Zero Pages

Boerne, Schertz, Helotes, New Braunfels and Alamo Heights all send painting searches every month. None of them had anywhere on the site to land.

Problem 03

Nothing for the Research Phase

No blog, nothing answering what a homeowner asks before they let a stranger paint their kitchen cabinets.

Problem 04

A Site Built to Wait

The original build was solid enough to carry the name and the reviews for years. It was never built to compete in search until someone decided it should.

Worth Saying Out Loud

We didn't teach anyone to paint. Twenty four years of clean, five star work is why the 5.0 rating held before a single new page went live.

Our job was to make sure the people already searching for that work could find it.

02 / What We Built

The Solution

Once the answer was yes, this was architecture work before it was writing. Every page was mapped to a real search and built in one push, so Google could crawl and judge the whole thing together.

01
Map the demand first

Pull the Real Search Terms Before Writing a Word

Cabinet refinishing, exterior painting contractor San Antonio, kitchen cabinet painter, whole house painting contractors. The architecture came from that list, so no page exists that nobody is searching for.

8 services, 5 towns mapped to real Bexar County search terms
02
One page per trade

Build a Page for Every Service

Interior, exterior, cabinet refinishing, epoxy flooring, carpentry, moldings, tile and remodeling each got its own page: own heading structure, own photography, own call to action.

8 service pages live and indexed
03
One page per town

Build a Page for Every Suburb

Boerne, Schertz, Helotes, New Braunfels and Alamo Heights each got a page written for that community, not a list of city names stuffed in a footer.

5 service area pages for the towns that actually call
04
Answer before the call

Publish the Questions Homeowners Ask First

Questions to ask before hiring a flooring contractor, how to choose a tile installer, what to ask a molding contractor. The searches people run before they're ready to call anyone.

24 articles published alongside the service pages
05
Close the loop

Wire the Site to the Business Profile

Consistent name, address and phone across every page, matched to the Google Business Profile, with the 5.0 rating and 30 reviews surfaced where a visitor can see them.

NAP + reviews synced across site and profile
03 / Proof It Ranks

Where the New Pages Already Rank

Five of the new service pages already hold position 1.0 or 2.0 on the searches that end in a phone call.

Position one for interior painting contractor San Antonio and position two for exterior didn't exist before the rebuild, because there was no interior page and no exterior page to hold them.

What Contractors Ask Us First

Why did it take so long to add SEO to this site?

The original site was built to give the business a real home online: name, services, reviews, contact. It did that job well for years. The search side is a separate decision, and on this account it didn't get a yes until this year. That's normal. A site can be a perfectly good storefront long before anyone turns on the work that gets it found.

Is a small, well built site enough without SEO?

It's enough to hold a name, a phone number and a reputation. It's not enough to compete for searches like cabinet refinishing or exterior painting contractor san antonio. Those need a dedicated page each. A well built site with no architecture behind it is a strong foundation with nothing built on top.

Why did clicks go down while impressions doubled?

They measure different things. Impressions count how often Google shows the listing; clicks count how often it wins the visit. A jump from under 20 pages to 53 means the site starts appearing for hundreds of new queries, most of them landing far down the results at first. Visibility rises immediately. Clicks catch up once those positions climb and titles get tuned.

Is an average position of 23.8 bad?

On its own it says very little. It's a blended figure across every query the site appears for, so adding hundreds of new ones drags the average down even while the important terms improve. This account sits at position 1.0 for interior painting contractor san antonio and 2.0 for the exterior version while the blended average reads 23.8. Judge it on the terms that produce revenue, not the mean.

How many pages does a painting company website need?

One for every service, one for every community served, and enough articles to answer what homeowners ask before they call. For this account that came to 8 service pages, 5 area pages and 24 articles. Fewer than that and there's simply nothing for Google to rank against a specific search.

Does the Business Profile matter more than the website?

They're not alternatives. The profile wins the map pack and the quick call; the website wins the research phase and feeds the profile its credibility. This account draws 271 interactions from 1,171 profile views while carrying a 5.0 rating from 30 reviews, and improving that conversion is the next item on the list.

Can one site rank for painting, cabinets, epoxy and tile?

Yes, provided each has its own page written for its own search. A single page listing eight trades ranks for none of them. This account now holds position 1.0 for kitchen cabinet painter and appears for cabinet refinishing, epoxy flooring, moldings and tile installation searches because each got a dedicated page.

How do you measure this with no conversion tracking?

By measuring the leading indicators honestly and fixing the tracking. There are no key events configured in GA4 on this account, so form fills and calls can't be reported yet, and we say so rather than presenting sessions as leads. Indexing, positions, impressions and engagement are all real and verifiable. Conversion tracking is the current priority.
